Frequently asked questions about my English classes via Videoconference
As I work quite differently to other organisations, I'm sure you'll have questions. Please check here first to find a possible answer to your question.
Choosing a course suitable for me...
currently I am the only teacher, although as things get busy I may add some extra teachers to the organisation. All teachers will have a native level of english, but like me, and more importantly, be fully qualified to teacher and use recognised teaching methods.
When you thinking about starting classes it is very normal that you will have fixed ideas of what you want and need. However these can often differ to the expert you are contacting (me!). The first step is to book your package and take the level test. When we speak during our 20 minute interview I will make some recommendations and sometimes these may be different to the package you have chosen. In this interview we'll discuss what you need and plan accordingly. I will always be open and honest about what you need to progress and I wont sell you a course which is not suitable for you. If you are not sure what you need then please use the contact form to tell me a little about you and your learning history.
I've been doing this a long time and the analysis and level checks that I do before I accept you as a client will give me a clear idea of what you need. I'll discuss this with you during our interview and work with you to find the right solution.
It is, but I strongly DON'T recommend it. Like going to a gym, where you need to build up strength through regular training, language learning is just the same. You should consider taking at least two classes per week to see results and build regular rythm in using English. In my 13 years experience the best results are always achieved with classes twice per week, you'll be wasting your money taking a class just once per week.
Before each class you'll be sent a pre-class activity to complete in preparation for your class, which you'll receive usually the week before your class and at least 3 working days before. I use the things you have written in the activity to structure the class and get you practising the areas of the topic that I think are you weakest. Therefore, if you haven't completed the activity at least 24 hours before your class I cannot give you the class and it will be lost and non recoverable. You should make sure you make enough time to do the each task, this normally takes about 20 mins per pre'class activity and you'll have one per class.
No, a standard computer or laptop with either the latest version of Chrome or Firefox and a webcam and microphone. You MUST use a headset or ear phones during your class and ensure that you are in a quite location with no background noise.
Yes, you may also take classes using a mobile device but you must make sure you are in one location when taking the class and not moving around. I cannot give you the class if you are travelling, driving, on a bus or train etc as this can cause changes in mobile coverage. You should also use Firefox o Chrome to connect you your virtual classroom.
As standard at my classes are given at a fixed time for the duration of your course. However if you would prefer a flexible schedule you may choose this at the time of ordering. Please keep in mind that a flexible schedule puts you in charge of booking your own classes based on my availability. You may use the online booking platform to book classes up to 36 hours before your class, and cancel at least 24 hours before.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you have working technology to take your class. You should also have an internet connection of at least 3Mb. To avoid technical issues I will send you instructions on how to connect prior to our first class so that you can make sure everything is working. I cannot recover the class if you technology or internet connection fails. In the case where the online platform or my internet fails then I will recover the class if this is determined to be my fault once the web engineer has taken a look at the problem. Para evitar problemas técnicos, te enviaré instrucciones antes de tu primera clase para que puedas conectarte antes de la clase y comprobar que todo funciona. Le recomiendo que haga esto al menos 24 horas antes para que pueda comunicarse conmigo si nota algún problema, ya que no puedo resolverlo durante su primera clase. Siempre recomendamos que se conecte cinco minutos antes de cada clase para asegurarse de tener la configuración correcta en su ordenador, lo ayudará a monitorizar tu conexión e incluso lo ayudará a conectarse si es necesario. Si pierde una clase debido a problemas técnicos que no están conectados a nuestra plataforma, será una clase perdida. Solo puedes recuperar tus clase cuando el problema es en nuestra plataforma.
Not a problem, you can cancel a class up to 24 hours before, directly from the online platform. If you cancel a class or try to change the time with less than 24 hours before it starts then the class will be lost and not recoverable. You may cancel and change up to two classes per month free or charge, however a small admin charge applies on and after the third cancellation in the same month.
There is a maximum of 4 people in a group class. As I personally test and analyse each person prior to joining you can be assured that they will match your level, however keep in mind that you all have slightly different levels of speaking and understanding so it is impossible to get an exact match.
When you take classes with me I ask that you commit to those classes. For this reason if you are more than 5 minutes late to your class the classroom will automatically lock and close and you will not be able to enter and it will count as a lost class. All classes start and finish at the scheduled time regardless of when you enter the classroom
If you are on a flexible schedule you can book classes up to 14 days in advance of todays date. Any classes booked outside of this period will be automatically declined. this is to ensure that there is sufficient availability for everyone. If you need to book further than 14 days in advance then I suggest you chose a fixed schedule.
When you book a class it is not automatically approved until admin has checked the booking. You will know when you booking has been approved as you will receive an email informing you of the approval.
General availability is from Monday to Thursday from 10:00 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 20:00 (GMT +1) and Fridays from 13.00 until 17.00. I make sure that I have at least two slots per week, per person in the case of individual classes with flexible booking. If you book more than 2 classes per week, in some case you may be asked to reduce this if other clients cannot book as a result of this. You should always try to book at least two weeks in advance to get the slots that you would like. If the booking system detects that you are trying to book but there are no clots available then it will automatically extend your subscription to account for this. However please keep in mind that there is a different between there being no slots and you not being available to take a slot.
Applying for classes with me...
The process can take 2 or 3 working days but it is very simple:
- STEP 1, PLACE YOUR ORDER - Choose your course and pay for the order online. Don't worry, if after the video interview I cannot accept you as a student then I will refund the full amount you have paid immediately.
- STEP 2, ONLINE LEVEL TEST - After making your order online you'll receive a username and password to access the online level test. it takes about 20 minutes to complete. You should complete this within 24 hours of your initial order otherwise your order will be cancelled.
- STEP 3, APPLICATION INTERVIEW - Once I've received your online level test results I wil contact you to set up a whatsapp video conference with the next few days. The interview takes about 20 minutes and is conducted entirely in English. At the end of the interview you will be told if I can accept you on to the course.
Once you have completed these steps you'll receive an online invoice and must make payment for your course within 24 hours. Normally you can start your classes the following week.
In my experience there is usually a difference in the level that a certificate gives you and your actual spoken level of English. For this reason, I need to see for myself, but i also need to analyse other areas auch as your cultural linguistic ability and your learning style. These things are not covered by a cambridge certificate.
Well, yes, but in many cases what you want doesn't always align with what you need. As an experienced professional I ask that you be patience and allow me to analyse all aspects of what you need and I will openly discuss my finding with you. After all, why hire an expert and not take thier advice?
Payments and refunds...
You must make payment at the time of placing your online order. If you are choosing to pay monthly then you first payment will be taken at the time of ordering and the following two months exactly one and two month later respectively. Don't worry, if you are not accepted on the course at the end of your video Interview I will refund the FULL amount you have paid by the same payment method. Under UK consumer law you are entitled to a FULL refund within the first 14 days of you contract, minus any classes you may have already taken during that time.
Based on online consumer law in the Uk you have the right to cancel your contract in the first 14 days of the start date. However you will only receive a refund for classes not taken and not for classes taken during the first 14 days .
Yes, you can, depending on the package you have chosen. Keep in mind that monthly prices are slightly higher than trimestral prices. Also, I recommend that the minimum classes you take are for three months as this achieves the best results, we rarely see results with just one month.
With credit or debit card online or by international bank transfer or using the Revolut app. All prices shown and payments collected will be in GPB - pounds sterling.
Unfortunately as I am a UK based trader, my classes cannot be subsidised using funding from FUNDAE.
That's a good question! For me to get a really good idea of what you need I need to spend time analysing your use of English. This takes time and is a personalised service. While this is included free of charge, I take payment first so that I am only analysing those who are serious about taking my course. Unfortunately over the years I have encountered an increasing number of people who are only looking for a free level test so I have opted to take payment in advance. I will refund you after the video interview if for some reason I cannot accept you on the course. The bottom line is if you are not serious about committing to my classes immediately after the interview process, please do not apply.

Providing that there is more than 24 hours prior to the start time of your class you will be able to cancel it using the online platform. If there is less than 24 hours until the class, unfortunately it will count as an absent and lost class.
